Abstract:A partial isothermal section of the Ni-Ti-Si system at 900℃was determined by means of diffusion triple technique, optical microscopy and electron probe microanalysis (EPMA) technique. Experimental results showed that there existed three ternary compounds TiNiSi₂(τ₂), Ti₁₄Ni₄₉Si₃₇(τ₃) and TiNiSi(E). Ternary compounds Ti₅₃Ni₃₇Si₁₀(χ) and Ti₂Ni₃Si(λ), which were reported to occur at 750℃, were not found at 900℃. The solubilities of Ni in compounds TiSi₂, TiSi and Ti₅Si₃ are more than 10% (mole fraction).
