Abstract:A novel methodology was proposed to determine the elastoplastic properties of individual phase within the Al alloy brazed joint by instrumented sharp indentation. The solidification microstructures (α-phase and eutectic) formed during quench in a brazing process of aluminum alloy shows a network feather. Nano/micro indentation depth vs load characteristics of individual phases at different initial solidification temperatures was analyzed. The results reveal that the similar phases show different responses, subsequently have different elastoplastic properties. The elastic modulus, Mayers hardness, yield strength, strain hardness, and the strain hardening exponent were determined. A brief comparison of these results was conducted.
